Dear coffee, I love you

I'm blogging at work. Don't yell at me. I just had to stop for a minute to tell you that I love coffee.

You know why I love coffee?
Not because of the smell, although that is great
Not because of the taste, although sometimes it's good
Not because it keeps my eyes from drooping in boring meetings, although that is convenient

Rather, I love coffee
Because of morning coffee dates with a dear friend
Because when you're traveling and want to stop and look at the map or people-watch you grab a cup
Because it is a wonderful way to start a day skiing (mountains, I love you too)
Because you are the center of coffee shops which are always included in the best date nights
Because it is a great medium for getting pumpkin spice and gingerbread syrup into my system :-)
And for so many mornings

Christmas Carol

I've been slackin. Forgive me. 
Thanksgiving has come and gone. We both took the week off work (this never ever happens) and spent some time with family in Ta-town then KC. I have plenty to tell you about including pies, movie marathons, Christmas decor... but let's save that for later. Tonight we went to see A Christmas Carol with our families. 

It is always a wonderful production. Such beautiful love and hope and joy! I've seen it several times, but have never read the book. Tonight hubs and I decided we wanted to read it. We'll see if that actually happens... The story is old enough that everyone has their own interpretations and their own perspectives on highlights and shortfalls, but I'll share my thoughts anyway since this blog is all about speaking from the abundance of my heart :-)

Belle has a relatively small part in the story. She was the woman Scrooge loved when he was young. She broke off their engagement because she said that Scrooge's idol of gold that had replaced his love for her. Idolatry. What a thought. Idolatry, not callousness, was the root of Scrooge's problem. It is not that he didn't smile enough, laugh enough, give enough, love enough. It was that he had an idol. His worship was misplaced. 

That reminds me of the Sound of Music... The afternoon the children went to see Maria  they didn't want the Captain to know so they made up story after pathetic story. When he doesn't fall for it, Liesl finally asks "Were do you think we were, Father?... Well, if you don't believe us you must have some idea where you think we were."

If I claim that his worship was misplaced I must have some idea where I think his worship should be placed.

Today is the beginning of advent. What a wonderful season of love, hope, and joy.

the heat is on!

I have this thing. Some might call it a problem. That might be fair, but I just like to call it a habit.

I never leave once.

When I leave my house, and especially my parents house and sometimes hotels and other times client sites, I leave things behind and have to go back to get whatever I left. That's why I like to say that I never leave once. That's called a euphemism. Or maybe not depending on how you view my presence... but since it is me talking I will call it a euphemism. Actually can I change my mind again? Cause its actually very annoying. I lose things. Well not lose exactly, more like misplace. Another euphemism.

Well anyway, most recently I have misplaced my credit card and my iPod. It's official. They've been gone for about a week and a half. And I have to say it seems extremely unlikely that they are together. I haven't had any fraudulent activity on my card so that's how I know it's just misplaced and not lost. Haven't checked the activity on my iPod cause that's not possible. Get this though... I have my wallet, but no credit card. I have my earbuds, but no iPod. Who does that?!

I wish I was like Winnie from Hocus Pocus and could just call out to them like she calls for her book... I mean I do call out to them, but they don't answer.

But the heat is on because next week is Thanksgiving and I don't have my gym music (so naturally I can't go work off the gunk I'll eat) or listen to any- *swallow*- Christmas music! And I also don't have my card for to begin Christmas shopping with. I just ended a sentence in a preposition. Oh help... 

Name that movie. I didn't give you enough to work with, did I? Well I'll just tell you. It's the Sound of Music.

Football= overrated | weddings and birthday parties= good

What's new? More work craziness. I would tell you about my new program that we launched a few weeks ago, but the other day my client (read: boss) heard from an actual client that they heard about our program on the internet and he got a tiddly-bit super nervous. So alas I can't tell you anything. Even though I know you'd be soooo enthralled by the wonder of it all. False.

Last weekend we decided to (read: attempted to) take the day off work. We shuffled around town to get new-to-us car #2 registered. After a couple trips to the DMV, success. We then hit the road to go visit some friends in Iowa and to watch our dear, sweet, terrible Jayhawk football team take on the Cyclones. Wonderful weekend! Read about that over on the Jensen's blog.

We then raced back in time to go to a dear friend's wedding Saturday night. Beautiful in all regards, as expected. Did I take pictures though? No. Fail.

Then Sunday we hit up the Chiefs. Another football loss. Good thing I don't really like football that much anyway. Don't tell... But I did take pictures so I get points for that.

Then we celebrated the sister's bf's bday by watching the Packers game and eating good food. At least the Packers won. Not that I watched the game.

Speaking of food, I need to go bake cookies or something. I'm starting to twitch!

Halloween blast from the past

So last week I promised to come back with pictures, but I still haven't taken any pictures. I thought about taking pictures of the hoards of trick-or-treaters that came to our house last night, but decided that might creep out parents. Besides, we ran out of candy in an hour flat so I was already on the kids' bad side.

I got to thinking though, I don't remember the last time I dressed up for Halloween. Then I realized I'd never seen hubs dressed up either. So ya know what I did? I went Facebook diving. It's like dumpster diving cause you're looking for people's trash, ya know? Anyway, you'll love what I found...

I can't tell you which one is which. But it's good, right?
