Jayhawk love

,
Where we're you when the Jayhawks took it all in 2008?
I was In Allen Fieldhouse watching the game.
Then I was on Mass for the celebration.
Such wonderful memories :-)

Watching the game with my roomie.
It started to look bad...
But then it started to look good
And then we won! True excitement here!
Excitement everywhere actually
So then my bf picked us up and took us to Mass where thousands of people celebrated.
We ran into my former roomie. I love her.
Celebrating being #1... Except our Chinese friend thought we were doing peace-signs.
My bf was so very happy :-)
Let's Go Jayhawks!

Burtday Roadtrip!

,
Sometimes I'm spontaneous. Psych! I'm actually pretty much never spontaneous. But this weekend I tried to fake it. Wednesday afternoon my dad procured tickets to the Elite Eight. He treated my hubs to the spare seat for his burtday, as it is called round here. Very generous. So hubs and pops hit the road on Friday and watched our favorite team take on NC State. Don't worry. They won.

So I drove out there too. So now we have ma and pa and hubs and I in the Lou. What do we do? Overindulge in pasta at 10pm, zone out, wake up and get delish breakfast with friends, then hit the zoo! Duuhhhh. No. No pics of animals to show you. But I did have to stop and smell the flowers and of course got snapshots of those. I'm predicable.*

So then after the zoo we were like "Hey! There happens to be a KU game in town. We should check it out." That is also a lie. We were visibly twitching with excitement before the game. During it we were jittery with nerves, and afterword we were beaming with pride and joy. Yes, they won again. If you ever need a good date idea I highly recommend going to a KU game. Tournament games are best, but take what you can get. You'll have a blast together. Speaking of which...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ROOMIE AND BESTIE AND HUBS.
Love him bunches and bunches. Lots more than when we got married even. And that's saying a lot.

You should tell him happy burtday too! :-)

* Pictures to come soon. Blogging on he iPad without a special app= no pictures. I'll get an app tomorrow. But for today, enjoy words only.

all I wanted was pink nails

,
I did! I just really wanted a gel manicure. It started on Sunday when two friends came over and they had just come from the nail salon. Their fun springy nails beckoned. But I said to myself, I said, "No, self! You just got a haircut and have been longing for moroccan oil. You can't spend monies on a manicure."

Well, that was Sunday. Then Monday came and I still wanted a mani. Then Tuesday came in all it's 75 degree showiness and demanded that I get out of the office to get one. I called ahead to make sure I'd have time. It'd be close on my my 65 minute break, but I could do it. And I'd even have time to swing by one of the McD's in town that historically has had Shamrock shakes.

But you know what happened? Traffic was terrible. There was a school bus blocking one lane on Main waiting for the students. And then you make it past the bus to find a car with a guy dropping off his gf for work, but not without a 10 minute make-out session first. Aw, so cute. Barf. This lane is also, for all essential purposes, closed. I make it past both of them to find massive truck after massive bus after massive truck. What in the world?! It's a Tuesday at 11:45! What da' prob'm is?!

So right before getting on the highway I bailed. I decided to give up on the nails and just get my smooth minty shake. But you know where you don't go on Tuesday at what is now noon? McD's on Main. Just don't do it. You'll never get out. 12:50 after your manicure you'll be fine. But straight up 12 noon? No siree-bob. Bad news bears. Don't even try.

You know what all the hub-ub is? The Big 12 tournament is arriving. All the junk and all the teams and all the fans. Now let it be known that I love my Jayhawks. And I love the tournament. But it ruined my perfectly-planned-pretty-pink sunshiney day. Ruuuuude!

Maybe tonight I'll paint my nails pink and make myself a homemade shamrock shake. In the mean time, I'm now back at my desk for my lunch. Hurumph.

when I was in Oklahoma

,
One time, way back when, my tall friend said something about Oklahoma. I told her I'd never been to Oklahoma. Later on I said "when I was in Oklahoma..." and she got really confused. Actually she just called me a liar, but who's counting? She's an accountant. Pun intended :-) The truth is, I was in the play Oklahoma in high school, but had never been to fine state. Confusing, huh?

Well this weekend I decided to finally make the trek. Hubs is still working redic hours, so I decided to pick up and head out of town to see a great friend. One of my bridesmaids to be exact. There were only two that weren't family so you know she must be cool. We never went to school together, haven't lived in the same city since high school, and only talk a few times a year. Even with odds against us, we always seem to just pick up where we left off. I knew the quick trip would be worth it so I drove down Saturday morning and back Sunday afternoon. I was only there for 24.5 hours, but we had a great time.

The skies were blue the whole way there and the fields were a rich green as things are just starting to grow for the spring.
"The skies were blue and everything was so green and fragrant I just had to be a part of it!" Not from Oklahoma. That's from SoM.
It was so pretty! Yes, you just heard me refer to the drive through Kansas and Oklahoma as pretty. Am I imagining things? Have my standards gone down? I need to get to Europe, or at least Colorado, stat. Regardless, I had a good time.

What did we do? Nothing. We ate fabulous bagel sandwiches and caught up on life. We went shopping but I was completely distracted by the KU game.

I ended up watching the play by play on ESPN mobile. I quite literally jumped up and down and might have been potentially obnoxious when Taylor made the final point for the win. Then I thought to myself  I just watched the play-by-play of a college basketball game on my phone for the last hour and a half and didn't look at any of the beautiful trinkets all around. What has my husband done to me?! Oh dear sweet alma mater, I love thee. Within 15 minutes of the winning shot I walked out of a store with $100 worth of clothes. I must shop when I'm happy.

The next morning I got coffee with an old friend from church. Remember the reasons why I love coffee? Yep, still true. It was a great time :-)

Other highlights from the weekend:
Painting my nails lilac
Eating watered down instant rice
Introducing my friend to The Help
Sixty five degree weather
Walking across a wooden bridge and fearing we might blow off
Getting 33MPG there and back

All in all, a great way to spend 24.5 spare hours.

Football= overrated | weddings and birthday parties= good

,
What's new? More work craziness. I would tell you about my new program that we launched a few weeks ago, but the other day my client (read: boss) heard from an actual client that they heard about our program on the internet and he got a tiddly-bit super nervous. So alas I can't tell you anything. Even though I know you'd be soooo enthralled by the wonder of it all. False.

Last weekend we decided to (read: attempted to) take the day off work. We shuffled around town to get new-to-us car #2 registered. After a couple trips to the DMV, success. We then hit the road to go visit some friends in Iowa and to watch our dear, sweet, terrible Jayhawk football team take on the Cyclones. Wonderful weekend! Read about that over on the Jensen's blog.

We then raced back in time to go to a dear friend's wedding Saturday night. Beautiful in all regards, as expected. Did I take pictures though? No. Fail.

Then Sunday we hit up the Chiefs. Another football loss. Good thing I don't really like football that much anyway. Don't tell... But I did take pictures so I get points for that.

Then we celebrated the sister's bf's bday by watching the Packers game and eating good food. At least the Packers won. Not that I watched the game.

Speaking of food, I need to go bake cookies or something. I'm starting to twitch!

Cheers to Jayhawk basketball season! It's HERE!

huh?

,
I have been oh so very absent from the blogosphere lately. And I miss it. I couldn't even tell you the last time I looked at The Pioneer Woman or Thrifty Decor Chick. So behind!

I don't even have anything good to write about. I just wanted to tell you all that I'm alive.

I helped launch a new product line. It's called Money Express. You've never heard of it.
I have used twice the normal number of minutes on my cell phone. Or maybe three times... I hit the "twice" mark last week.
I bought a pre-paid phone.
I "posed" as a latina for an ad.
I baked a quiche.
My sister cleaned my house for me when all the cleaning companies in town were booked. You wish my sister was your sister.
I traveled to Florida, South Carolina, and Tennesee.
I bought a turnip and told the grocery store lady it was a parsnip. Or maybe it was the other way around.
I chopped a rutabega. And whatever that other thing was that I bought.
I went to the world pray-me-air... that's french for premiere... of Tom Sawyer (the ballet) at the Kauffman Performing Arts Center.
I planted more tulips.
I killed my mums.
I bought a pair of skinny jeans. And wore them in public.
I lost my luggage on a non-stop flight.
I slept in my contacts and my eyes have not forgiven me.
I stayed at the KU v. K-State game until the 4th quarter. Took some dedication.
I mistakenly used whipped cream instead of whipping cream. Big difference.

Just par for the course, ya know? Not that I've ever played golf, but I think that's what that means...

What am I even saying right now? I should stop while I'm behind.

Check back later. I'll have pictures for you or something.

football and ice cream are good

,
Thanks for telling me what you love. I enjoyed it.

But you know what? I know there are more of you out there that aren't commenting... Creepers.

Ya know what else I love besides all the things I listed in my last post? My Jayhawks.

But mostly I just love going to KU games with my bestie.

When we got married 2 whole whopping years ago we got a lot of great marriage counseling. At some point along the way we learned that it would be important for us to find things that we both enjoyed and to foster those interests. And remember when we talked about spending our time on things that we value? Well that's true of our monies too folks. So when hubs decided to buy season tickets to KU football this year I swallowed the price tag and committed to it. Because we both love our second home in Lawrence. Sometimes we cry during the Alma Mater. Did I say we? I mean me. I mean I. Whatever...

What I'm getting at here, besides the fact that the game was stinkin ah-may-zing, besides the fact that the girl behind me asked how to do the fight song clap, besides the fact that it was a very long day, besides the fact that I have no idea what a first down is... what I'm getting at is that it is super-uber-important to join the people you love in doing the things that you both love.

So we watched our Jayhawks play football and shared in a celebratory late night trip to Sheridan's. And it was fun.
